Blue Botanicals

Grandmother 's Curtains? Old-fashioned? No way! The floral patterns are THE big TREND! They are cropping up everywhere, ready to embellish our homes this spring.
They have to be fun, full of life, colorful, with lots of movement, and with an extra touch of elegance and modernity. They result with many colors or just on two tones.
Today, because I am the number one fan of the combination Blue / White, by questions of origin (not related to football), I bring you some suggestive images with some floral patterns, that results beautifully with two shades.
Get the look! ;)
Cortinados-da-avó? Fora-de-moda? Error!
Get the look! ;)

Mirrored Furniture

A Brief History of Mirrors
“ (…) The use of glass with a metallic backing commenced in the late 12th and early 13th centuries, and, by the time of the Renaissance, Nürnberg and Venice had established outstanding reputations as centres of mirror production. The mirrors produced in Venice were famous for their high quality. Despite the strictures of the doges, Venetian workmen succumbed to the temptation to carry the secrets of their craft to other cities, and, by the middle of the 17th century, mirror making was practiced extensively in London and Paris.

Generally, mirrors were extremely expensive especially the larger variety and the wonderment created at the time by the royal palace at Versailles was due in part to the profusion of mirrors that adorned the state rooms.

From the late 17th century onward, mirrors and their frames played an increasingly important part in the decoration (…). New cheaper techniques of mirror production in the 19th century led to a great proliferation in their use. Not only were they incorporated into pieces of furniture, such as wardrobes and sideboards, but they were also used extensively in decorative schemes for public places."

From Encyclopedia Britannica

By reflecting the light and the surrounding area, making us to have a higher sense of space and dimension, the pieces of furniture covered with mirrors became an perfect allied in the decoration of any space. These elements suggest sophistication and refinement, and used (sparingly) at strategic points, works beautifully. I'am addicted! ; )
Have a great week!

Uma Breve História sobre Espelhos

From Encyclopedia Britannica

I’am addicted! ; )
  Tenham uma excelente semana!
